Wilson County has excellent partners who look after and ensure the best care of those who call it home, from Wilson Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint Hospital with nearly 300 beds, to the new Vidant HealthPlex-Wilson, whose +30,000 square feet are dedicated to primary, specialty and immediate care. Wilson County Health Department is an active proponent of the health and wellbeing of Wilsonians as it monitors conditions and communicates recommendations for healthy lifestyles with citizens.

Extensive health services are available in Wilson. Wilson Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint Hospital, represents the best of community medicine and continuity of services including a 294-bed hospital, nursing care center, homecare and hospice company, child care center, behavioral health services, durable medical equipment company and a healthcare foundation. Some 90 active physicians serve on the hospital’s medical staff – 90 percent of whom are board certified, representing approximately 21 specialties.

Vidant HealthPlex-Wilson provides primary, specialty and after-hours immediate care all under one roof. It is also home to onsite laboratory, diagnostic and imaging services and a drive-thru pharmacy. A go-to spot for Wilson and the neighboring communities for the latest health information, education, and screenings, its mission is to raise the health standard in Eastern North Carolina and provide opportunities to help the people of Wilson make the best lifestyle choices.

The Wilson County Health Department remains focused on providing for and sustaining healthy living conditions for the citizens of Wilson. Its partner in mental health is Eastpointe, a managed care organization dedicated to working with individuals and families in eastern North Carolina who struggle with substance abuse, mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
